Bittersweet Knives.

   "He has put a knife on the things that held us together and we have fallen apart"(1910). He is Christianity. As white men settled Umoufia, clansmen found them to be of much amusement despite the fact that they murdered an entire town. Their overconfidence cost them their spiritual foundation. A lot of the things that were done for the clans mens' original religion were horrid. However, that is from a modern day American girl's viewpoint. Back than, Christianity was much like a shiny object. It was great until it started to attract too much attention. Christianity made the people question all of their fundamental values and beliefs. It was a blessing and a curse for the most part.
